What's new for this winter season? The big news is the gondola lift on the La Masse side. Ultra-fast and comfortable, it will undoubtedly please you. Changes have also been made to some accommodation and restaurants. All the news at a glance, let's take a closer look.

La Masse side

The fastest cable car in France

Designed by the construction company Leitner, this ultra-modern installation replaces the ageing Masse 2 section. It leaves from the resort and arrives directly at the summit of La Masse at an altitude of 2,804 m. Special feature: this technological marvel is one of the two fastest cable cars in France! 3,318 m in length, with a 1,050 m difference in altitude and a speed of 7 m/s, or more than 25 km/h, the La Masse cable car is not only one of the longest in the 3 Vallées, but is also the most efficient in France and only the second of its type in the country.

In both winter and summer, skiers and pedestrians can now reach the summit in less than 8 minutes instead of the original 25 minutes, with a total hourly capacity of 2,800 people.

The historic gondola lift, Masse 1, has however been retained to facilitate the practice of beginners.

Ultra modern

Setting off on board one of the 76 Diamond EVO panoramic glass gondolas is a real experience in itself! Quality, design and comfort are the key features, with individual seats, and skis on the exterior. The arrival station is entirely clad in glass and stone, is partially underground and has splendid views of the Lou valley. An escalator from the gondolas’ arrival point takes skiers to the top of the slopes and provides access to the 800 m2 terrace with 360° panoramic views. Taking a break at ‘Le 2800’ restaurant is a must. It has been refurbished and now has an outdoor snack bar accessible on skis and a sunny terrace with panoramic views.

Accommodation and restaurants

The 4-star Ours Blanc Hotel & Spa gets a new look

Perched high up in the Reberty district in Les Menuires, the Ours Blanc Hotel & Spa is getting a makeover this winter. After having been taken over by the Assas Hotels group (which includes several well-known places such as the RockyPop Chamonix and the Hôtel Marielle in Val Thorens, etc.), this establishment, which is accessible on skis, has been fully renovated and can now offer 66 rooms decorated in a vintage style, including three duplex apartments which can accommodate up to five people.

Interior designer, Leslie Gauthier , who frequently works in partnership with the group, has given the place a new lease of life. Dark, brushed oak and light larch combine with leather and corduroy and are enhanced by a harmonious contrast of colours in the bedrooms. This sophisticated décor gives pride of place to retro furniture and objects, such as the superb counter in the bar/reception area, the light fittings or the Chesterfield armchairs in the spacious lounge, which give the overall impression of a warm and cosy atmosphere.

The restaurant, with its terrace boasting panoramic views over the new zone on La Masse, will be the new place to go for lovers of fine food!
