Sustainable forestry
Les Menuires lies within the scope of the Vallée des Belleville's forest conservation commitment, in partnership with the ONF (French Foresty Office).
🌍❤️🌱 Preserving a living heritage
Les Belleville has entrusted the stewardship of its forests, which cover approximately 6% of its land area, to the ONF (French Forestry Office). Their work is based on a multi-year plan to protect biodiversity, encourage natural regeneration and monitor tree health.
Specifically, the ONF carries out a range of actions including tree planting and care, monitoring threats such as bark beetles, sustainable harvesting with local applications, path management and coordinating awareness raising initiatives to improve knowledge of the essential role of mountain forests.
♻️👍Certified sustainable stewardship
A multi-decade management plan has been drawn up for the Vallée des Belleville's forests, which defines areas for felling, protection or renewal in order to ensure a sustainable balance.
Harvested timber is used locally. Some logs become structural framework or furniture, while others are used for firewood. The process carries the PEFC stamp of approval, which guarantees environmentally friendly exploitation today and for future generations.
